2015 BRDGC Player’s Championship
When: Saturday, December 5, 2015
Where: Walnut Creek Park
Players Meeting: 9:00
First Tee: 9:30
Format: Match Play Tournament Bracket
Layout: Matches will be on short-short layout, until the final four. Everybody will get two play-in matches before the tournament bracket is set, then the event becomes single elimination. Being eliminated from the running for the trophy does not mean this event is done for you. I will run side events throughout the day as long as there are players wanting to participate. Initial match pairings are done randomly.
Entry Fee: Your 2015 BRDGC Bag Tag and $2. If you have lost your 2015 bag tag or never purchased one and wish to participate, you may do so by purchasing a new bag tag for $10. Your $10 goes into the Ace Pot for the event.
Ace Pot: BRDGC will be sponsoring $100 for this ace pot. In addition, everybody’s $2 goes into the ace pot initially. If there are no aces the $100 goes back to the club and everybody’s $2 goes into the payout for the final four.
Final Four Payout: New this year we will have an additional $5 side pot to build up the payouts for the winners of the event. This buy in will be optional, but if you don’t buy in you will only be eligible to win the $2 pot if it makes it to the end. Top four will receive discs from the club store regardless of cash payout.
Superlatives Galore: Throughout the event I look for fun, creative ways to award discs based on performance. Last year we awarded discs for the last place finisher in the two play-in rounds, the top seed in the tournament bracket, the biggest upset in the tournament, etc. This year we will be adding some CTP holes into the format. Also, there will be rings of fire for discs every time we have a round of eliminations for the event. This way everybody has a chance to win something no matter your skill level.
Things of Note: Please bring snacks to keep yourself energized throughout the day. Because of the nature of this event, we do not have the opportunity to take a typical “lunch” break. I will have water/Gatorade on hand. There will be an extended break after the two play-in matches, and after the first two matches of the tournament. If we stay on schedule I hope to be done with all portions of the tournament except for the final four matches by 2pm or so. These rounds move much more quickly than typical rounds b/c of the match play format.
