Here is a look ahead to the end of the year events and a quick recap of Mountain Jam.
- Halloween Hurl on October 29 at Gardens
- Acemageddon on November 19 at Greene County
- Club Championship on December 3 at Gardens
Halloween Hurl will be much the same as last year. We will light up the Gardens, baskets and paths, and throw discs into the wee hours. The event is free if you bring your own lights, or you can purchase lights from the club for $1 per set. We will begin shortly after sunset, and there will be candy to eat and prizes to be won. This is a great event for the family and friends, so come one come all and join us for a night of glow fun!
Details on Acemageddon can be found here: https://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments/Acemageddon_2016
Details on the Club Championship to come but we are looking at a different format for this year’s championship than in the past two years.
MOUNTAIN JAM WRAP
Mountain Jam XV went down in beautiful weather this past weekend. Special thanks to Brian Sward for all his hard work in getting the Jam ready to go and congratulations on a spectacular event! BRDGC also thanks all club members who helped get the course ready for play.
Here are the division winners over two days of play and final scores. BRDGC congratulates:
Ricky Snapp – Open (106)
Autumn Grace – Open Women (121)
Bob Cannon – Open Masters (113)
Brice Jackson – Advanced (103)
Mark Hawking – Advanced Masters (116)
David Wert – Advanced Grandmasters (116)
Mike Maslin – Intermediate (118)
Jessica Hodges – Intermediate Women (145)
Ross Foster – Recreational (124)
JT Sheridan – Junior (138)
BRDGC members won three of the ten divisions, and congratulations to club members Eric Dobmeier, Brice Jackson, Brett Castrodale, Daniel Frazier, Brian Sward, Barry Sealey, and Mike Maslin for finishing top three in their respective divisions.
Special Congratulations to Mike Maslin, who overcame a five-stroke deficit in round two to win his division on the fourth hole of a playoff. Great job, Mike!
Special, special congratulations to Brice Jackson for shooting an awesome score of 52 (-4) in his second round on Saturday, an incredible round rating of 1035! I’m told they had to invent a new calculation method as well as a new calculation machine to calculate that high of a rating. The next time you see Mr. “Ten Thirty Five” give him a pat on the back for his efforts.
Baskets were won during the CTP contest by club members Ten Thirty Five and Jason Leblanc.
DOUBLES ENDS in a BANG
We played our last official doubles of the season on September 27 and it was a great evening producing SIX different winners. There was a tie for first with two teams shooting -16 on the short/short layout to split the winning cash and earn each player a disc from the club store for shooting -16 or better. We also had aces by Brett Castrodale (hole 9) and Daniel Frazier (hole 3) and they split the ace pot of $114. Perfect ending to our doubles season and we will see you again in March of 2017.
That is all for now. Hope to see you on the course!
A couple of videos from the first round of yesterday’s Mountain Jam Pro. Eric Dobmeier and Kevin Peterson on hole 18.
