Greetings, Disc Golfers,
Here is some news about what has happened recently in our club, as well as a look ahead to the Club Championship coming on December 5, 2015, to a Walnut Creek Park near you.
After a slight delay, Mountain Jam 14 was held on October 24, at the Nut, and here are your winners by division from that event:
Open – Ian Liddell
Masters – Dwight Woods
Grandmasters – Chris Hysell
Advanced – Rick Davis
Adv. Women – Maria Tuttle
Adv. Masters – J.C. Williams
Intermediate – Brett Castrodale
Recreational – Justin Matijasic
Congratulations to BRDGC member Brett Castrodale for winning his first tournament! Well done also to Steven Riley (3rd in Open), Chris Faunce (4th in Adv.), Evan Waterfield (3rd in Int.), David Naro (4th in Int.), and Ed Brown (2nd in Rec.). Many, many thanks to Brian Sward, Steven Riley, Sebring Smith, Curtis Miller, Evan Waterfield, and Brett Castrodale (as well as anybody else I forget to mention) for your help in making the tournament happen. Cheers to all for a job well done!
The BRDGC’s first ever Halloween Hurl was held on Friday, October 30, at the Gardens at Meadow Creek, and we had some 50-60 people show up for a fun night of glow golf. We had families and kids in costume, players new to disc golf, as well as some regular tournament players, making for an awesome turnout. We hope to do this again next year, as the feedback from our community has been very positive.
Lastly, please mark your calendars for December 5, 2015, because that is when the awesome BRDGC Player’s Championship returns. Like last year, we will be doing a tournament-style bracket, and the format will be match play. The winner of this event gets to put his or her name on the club trophy, and that kind of glory lasts forever and ever. Entry to this event is your 2015 BRDGC bag tag, as well as $2 so that we can create an ace pool/final payout. Also, this year the club will be adding $100 of cold, hard cash to get our ace pot up and flying! More details of this event will be forthcoming, so stay tuned to this space.
Cheers to all,
